During the show our punishing schedule of events continued unabated. Having got through the first three nights it was to time to treat ourselves to an Indian which certainly got us back up to speed for the rest of the week! Backstage had a short onstage celebration on Thursday night and then with the working week over we had an excuse for a party night on Friday at Wendy and Julian's which allowed us to christen their back garden landscaping 'jobby'. As always Saturday night was the usual fish and chip supper at the Civic with the annual awards of the DAFTAS by the hilarious Cheryl! Sunday was 'breaking the set' followed by an extended lunch at the Three Crowns.
Well, we've just got back from Llandudno after a superb weekend break at Dave & Michael's hotel on the Welsh coast. A superb time was had by all and our hosts pulled out all the stops for us as usual. Even the weather worked out a treat for us, as all the rain came down overnight! Many people went to the Frank Skinner show which apparently was well received - not as blue as expected I believe. The food was grand and the hospitality second to none - you can't beat Can-Y-Bae in Mostyn Crescent! Then of course we had the extra hour to while away when the clocks changed and yes we were there at 2am when Dave wound it back - yet another hour of community singing to entertain the neighbours. Difficult to think of a show that we didn't sing our way through! And here's to the next time we visit....
Carpet Trades held its annual dinner at the Brasserie in Kidderminster on Saturday 20th October. This convivial gathering is a regular event following on from our October show and as usual was an opportunity to run over some of the most amusing events that entertained us as well as the audience during our recent run. Unfortunately the event was not without its problems. Having been rearranged to satisfy a number of newcomers from another society the England Rugby team decided to complicate the issue by getting to the final of the World Cup, against all the odds, so we had to have a T.V. set up to keep us company. Fortunately we didn't make our mark in the final and we were able to get on with the festivities instead. And so we all had a great time yet again...
