  History

Carpet Trades Operatic Society was born in 1944 as an activity for the employees of the company for which they worked in the town of Kidderminster, Worcestershire.

Throughout the following decades the name changed several times to reflect the change in ownership of this carpet firm. Many of us recall Crossley, Gilt Edge and Coloroll. When finally the company ceased operations in Kidderminster the Operatic Society decided it would be most appropriate to revert to the original identity.

And so more than sixty years later the society continues to flourish, performing a major show every year in the autumn time, having rehearsed throughout the summer months to achieve perfection for their audience within the Wyre Forest area of Worcestershire.

And yet another change as our 2010 identity has now been modernised to become:

  'Carpet Trades Musical Theatre Company'

Simply look to 'THE SHOWS' page to view all our past performances. Perhaps you may be able to identify our favourite shows, just two presentations that we have performed four times!
