BEHIND THE SCENES
Though the majority of members are attracted to a theatre conpany by the desire to act and sing, no show can be staged without much hard work 'behind the scenes'. Sets and scenery have to be designed and built requiring artistic talents, much careful thought and plenty of hard graft. People who give themselves to such tasks are often selfless in nature, happy to participate without the glorification of those in the limelight. Regrettably they do not receive as much credit as they should when the bouquets are distributed. Many however content themselves with the knowledge that without their efforts the show would not have gone on, and fortunately the 'stars' do know ultimately the importance of all the backstage work. In recent times the portrayal of stage performances relies ever more on sophisticated sound and light facilities. This has created a new breed of experts who now seem to control the destiny and success of all live performances. And lets not forgot the critical role of the 'props'! After all you can't portray anything on stage without the neccessary accoutrements, can you!? More about these support roles later.
